My name is Mark Barton. I'm an amateur wildlife photographer
studying in my third year of Wildlife and Environmental Photography at Blackpool and the Fylde College.
Wildlife is the subject
that first drew me to photography, when I would try and photograph insects with
my compact camera while on holidays abroad. I accidentally broke my camera and
it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, prompting me to buy my first
SLR. Since then I have developed an obsession with both the natural and
technical sides of wildlife photography.
I am based in Lancashire where my
course is held, and so have access to a wealth of different environments from
limestone pavements to dune systems and ancient woodland. I am also interested in
conservation, and am actively involved with it. I am
a member of the Society of Biology and a volunteer with Natural England.
I am specialised in macro photography (invertebrates and flora) in the field.
This is the area that first got me interested in photography, and it is a skill
set that I developed exclusively over my first three years, before branching out
into other areas of nature photography.
